During February our parish went through a major visual transformation. The Stations of the Cross restoration was completed in time for Lent. The Cross, which has been in the Stations of the Cross Prayer Garden since the parish's early years, was cleaned and given a cement base to protect it from termites. The original succulents which were given to the parish by friends of Fr. Scheljens were carefully removed and when the cross was placed into its elevated position in a planter (really one of the parish's old, rusted BBQ pits that was painted and filled with dirt) the succulents were replanted at the base of the cross, as was their original position.
The woodchip walkway from station to station was given new bark and expanded so that there is a 'walkway' around the entire prayer garden. In the center are two rows of cherry trees which Fr. Joey helped to plant with help.
The area in front of the church has also benefitted from the retaining wall around the rain ditch, the laying down of rock, and planting of many colorful plants.
