About Manang Nenet Suyat's Funeral
3-20-20, Friday, 7:00 pm
My Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,
This is regarding the funeral of longtime parishioner Manang Nenet Suyat.
We, the whole parish and the Filipino community love her so much!
It is unfortunate that her funeral liturgy tomorrow is now under the "Stay At Home" order of the whole state.
For the safety and health of all, for a good much greater than ourselves, the Los Osos Memorial Park, I your pastor, the parish community, friends, relatives and the bereaved family have no choice but to comply with the state directives.
Because of this, there will be NO Viewing, NO Rosary, NO Funeral Mass at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church tomorrow, March 21, Saturday. Rather, a Graveside Service (not a Mass, but a "Final Commendation with Rite of Committal") is scheduled at Los Osos Memorial Park at 10 am. With sadness, I am the only one permitted to be present at the cemetery plot and do the Graveside Service. The very limited number of immediate family members allowed are asked to kindly stay in their vehicles. According to mortuary administration, passengers of one parked vehicle will take turn, one vehicle at a time, to approach Manang Nenet's plot after the Graveside Service to give their last respects.
The rest of the parish community, relatives and friends, are being requested to please, kindly stay home.
My friends and family of Manang Nenet, I am one with you in your great pain. Though I will be physically alone blessing Manang Nenet, I represent all of you, with your tears and your great love. With this, I may be physically one, but in spirit, the whole parish community, friends, relatives and family members are with me. I'll try my best to do the service via "FaceBook Live" (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100011191560997) so that those who are in their vehicles and homes are able to watch it real time.
At a future date to be determined, I will "FaceBook Live" or video record my celebration of a Holy Rosary and a Memorial Mass for our beloved Manang Nenet's eternal rest (I'll be doing all of these alone in the Rectory) and place the link on our parish website. In this way, we will be able to complete all the liturgies I and the family have planned weeks before the pandemic.
Jesus, our Divine Mercy is comforting us all, our Blessed Mother Mary embracing us, our Patroness Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton holding our hands, and all the angels and saints praying for us.
Love and prayers,
Fr. Joey

My Sisters and Brothers in Christ,
God's Love be with you!
Happy Feast Day of St. Joseph, spouse of the Blessed Mother!
You are all in my prayers. Thank you for your prayers for me. My colds are now reduced to sniffles. I am getting better.
I have 5 requests:
(1) While our parish is finding ways to bring you the Holy Mass online, please click one of the links below to watch & attend Mass for the time being:
MASS FROM NATIONAL SHRINE OF ST. ELIZABETH ANN SETON, MARYLAND:
https://www.facebook.com/ElizabethAnnSeton
MASS FROM NATIONAL SHRINE OF DIVINE MERCY, MASSACHUSETTS:
https://www.thedivinemercy.org/articles/holy-mass-national-shrine-divine-mercy?slider=tdm&pos=1
(2) Please also find below the link for the many choices to adore online Jesus in the Most Blessed Sacrament: https://virtualadoration.home.blog/
Never lose that connection with Jesus, our Divine Mercy, truly & really present in the Most Blessed Sacrament.
(3) As I continue to look at the Sacred Images of my favorite saints in my rectory, I remember all of you & received an idea. Using your smartphone, please send me your selfie (solo photo) or groupie (family photo) at our parish cell phone (805) 235-8803. It will be a big help for me to see all your photos in my rectory altar and inside the church as I pray and celebrate our Masses privately. I get lonely too, you know :-)
(4) If you have an elderly neighbor, please make sure to call them and check how are they doing. They are the most vulnerable to this pandemic.
(5) Before helping others, please make sure you help yourself first. Kindly obey all health, county & CDC guidelines. "SHELTER AT HOME" begins at 5 pm today.
Our Lord Jesus is with us. Our Blessed Mother Mary is comforting us. All the angels and saints are helping us. All our beloved departed who are now in heaven are praying for us.
Be safe. Stay well. Pray always. Big hug to all!
Love & prayers,
Fr. Joey

HAPPY FEAST DAY OF ST. JOSEPH, SPOUSE OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY!
Prayer to St. Joseph
We come to you St. Joseph, to place ourselves among all who love you and to experience your powerful protective presence. We shall always love and honor you as our spiritual father. We ask you, O dear Joseph, that you accept us as your friends, that you lovingly consider our needs, both spiritual and material, that you may guard us from the influence of the evil one as well as from other dangers that threaten us. O most loving St. Joseph, show us how to love and be loved by Jesus. Teach us how to have a profound fidelity to the Church. Encourage in us a filial affection for the Blessed Virgin, our Mother, so that, with your help we may enter heaven to glorify God with you, through all eternity. We ask this through Christ our Lord, Amen. Hail Joseph, Son of David! Most pure spouse of the Immaculate Mother of God and faithful guardian of our Lord Jesus Christ. Pray for us. Pray for our loved ones. Cherish, accept, and protect them. Amen.

What does "SHELTER AT HOME" mean?
General Counsel of Monterey Diocese, Susan Mayer, explains:
"What does this mean for people?
People may only leave their homes in the following cases:
(1) To get food, clothing, shelter, medical supplies, to see a physician or nurse for themselves, members of their households and their pets. Please see the order for more information on when a resident may leave his/her house.
(2) They may leave to go to work if they work in an essential business. Essential businesses include grocery stores, drug stores, banks, healthcare providers, hospitals, hardware stores, schools and similar businesses outlined in section 10 of the order. They do not include church offices.
What this mean for your parish?
(1) Religious services are not exempted from this order (except funerals) which means that you cannot have Mass or any gatherings at the parish. Bishop Danny is asking that you abide by the County’s order.
(2) The parish office must be closed, and your employees should work from home if possible. Your employees may come to the office to pick up items that they need to work from home, but they cannot work at the office. This order has the force of law and we must abide by it."
End of explanation.
