Description |
Altar servers process in and out of Mass with the priest and help him on the altar during different parts of the Mass. Some of the duties include holding the Roman Missal for the priest to read from, carrying candles, ringing bells, and helping with the Washing of Hands by presenting the basin and water. Altar servers also help clear the altar after Communion is over.
There are regular trainings for altar servers during the liturgical year which must be attended. Senior altar servers, who have served for a long period of time, form the primary support for newer servers and help train new ones. Schedules for altar serving are made after the Chief Servant receives input from the families. Schedules are given to each server, and are posted in the Alb Cabinet. |
