MAY 1: Confirmation YR 1 & 2
This Sunday we discussed parts of the Mass and especially the importance of attending Mass. Also discussed was how it is a sin to purposefully not attend Mass when it is in our control to choose to attend or not. Please watch these short videos for a more in-depth teaching on these topics.

APRIL 3: Confirmation YR 1 & 2
z1) We asked everyone to watch the Fr. Mike Schmitz video before class and also replayed it during class as part of our discussion after our Stations of the Cross walk.
Powerful Story of What Happened on Fr. Mike's Deathbed - YouTube
2) We also discussed sin in 2 aspects: personal sin (our own) and social sin (sin committed by society in general)
We named sins that are common in you and for teen. Then we took a quick look at the incident of the slap by Will Smith and Christ Rock at the award ceremony the other night.
Homework for those who missed class:
1) Identify the sins demonstrated during the slap incident mentioned above.
2) Make a list of the sins that you believe are most common for teens today.
3) Email your answer to either Heather or the parish email: seaschurchlo@gmail.com
Fr. Joey does check your answers.

March 20: Confirmation YR 1 & 2
Our lives can be challenging. We are all called to follow Christ in a world that wants to give us compromise instead of what we know is right and just.
How should we act then? How can we rely on God best and find God's strength?
Saints are people who struggled just like us. They not only are a witness of the power of God, but also an example of how to live in a difficult world. They were just regular people like you who asked God's grace to live in them.
(A Servant of God and Blessed are both stages in the path of becoming a Saint recognized by the Catholic Church.)
When we are Confirmed, we take on the name of a Saint that we admire and that helps us to follow Christ better.
Homework:
(Please see Jan homework on how to create an account with FORMED.org if needed.)
Step 1:
Choose 1 from the following options and watch it. We have tried to give a variety to suit your/your family's taste. (You can choose more if you would like, we are only asking you to report on 1.)
FORMED.org: Go to the movie section or for Spanish, click on Español, then Película in the drop down box.
Not all movies are available in both languages.

March 6: Confirmation YR 1 & 2
This weekend we talked about the 1st Saturday Devotion to St. Mary and the meaning and practice of Lent.
Homework:
(Please see Jan homework on how to create an account with FORMED.org if needed.)
Step 1: 7 Secrets of Confession
On FORMED.org, once logged in, click on the Lent button at the top. Scroll down to the box that shows a pope and is labeled, 7 Secrets of Confession.
(7 Secrets of Confession is a 40 minute audio recording. You can listen to it while doing the dishes, folding laundry, driving in the car etc. Other family members may also get a deeper meaning of the Sacrament from it. )
Step 2: Go to Confession
Fr. Joey would like our Confirmation class to participate in the parish Lenten days of Confession. Please commit to one of the
two options.
March 22nd -- English Lenten Confession by Appointment (please call or text: 805-235-8803 or email seaschurchlo@gmail.com)
March 29 -- Spanish Lenten Confession (walk-in) 7:00-8:00pm
Feb 20: Confirmation YR 1 & 2
Homework: (for those who missed class either February 6th or 20th , and those who wish to learn more about our Faith and covenant with God.
Step 1: On FORMED.org watch Symbolon (The Catholic Faith Explained)
Session 4: The Story of Salvation: Creation, Fall, and Redemption/La historia de salvación: La creación, la caída y la redención
Step 2: Answer these 3 questions: (taken from the FORMED leader guide)
1. Dr. Sri talks about the story of salvation and how this story plays a role in each of our lives.
What does it mean that “our modern world has lost its story,” and why does that matter?
2. Dr. Sri described a timeline that demonstrates how salvation history is the growth of God’s family as he draws mankind back
to himself. Here is the process by which God’s family grows:
One Couple -> One Family -> One Tribe -> One Nation -> One Kingdom -> One Church
(Adam & Eve) (Noah) (Abraham) (Moses) (David) (Jesus and the Apostles)
Consistent throughout salvation history are covenants. How does entering into a covenant “define the relationship” between God and his people?
3. Read the following quote from Pope Benedict XVI:
“Each of us is the result of a thought of God. Each of us is willed. Each of us is loved. Each of us is necessary.”
List two or three roles that you play in your life, such as parent, worker, or friend. Now consider what would happen if you
don’t live those relationships well. Who would suffer? What wouldn’t be accomplished? After you have written your answer,
then say a prayer of gratitude that you have been, in the words of Psalm 139:14, “fearfully and wonderfully made” and ask
God for the grace to help you fulfill your responsibilities with the people and missions he has entrusted to you.
Step 3: Email (or photo & send via text) your answers to the above questions to Fr. Joey & our Faith Formation Team at our main parish email/office phone: seaschurchlo@gmail.com or 805-235-88-03
